      Come Fly With Me

A technical achievement that doesn't quite work:

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow:

This film has a beautiful look. It's amazing. It's visual style reminds me of the Superman cartoons from the 1940s. The only problem is that the story has about as much depth as those short cartoons. The characters are hardly developed at all. And the performances left me a little cold.

      The scoring:

      Writing:
The story is very simple and conventional. The dialogue is ridiculously bad. The characters are flimsy and one dimensional. 0.5/1

      Directing:
The pacing is a little inconsistent. Great visual style. 0.6/1

      Acting:
It feels like the actors are acting against a green screen. Which they are. But there isn't any real emotion there. It's disappointing to see these performances from otherwise good actors like, Jude Law and Gwenyth Paltrow. Angelina Jolie's small part is probably the best work here. 0.6/1

      Technical:
Visually this is one of the most spectacular films you'll see. The entirely CGI backgrounds have a stylized look that's amazing. It paved the way for films like Sin City and 300. 0.9/1

      History:
Nothing lasting except it's technical achievements. 0.4/1

      Entertainment:
There are places that are fairly diverting, but overall the film was a little dull. 0.5/1

      Misc.:
0.1 for the plane going in the water.

      Overall: 3.6/6.8

Not the greatest film in the world. Technically brilliant, but kinda dumb and cold.
